About Me

Hi, I’m Jamie Moore, a journalist based in Central Texas with a passion for telling the stories that shape our communities. Whether covering local government meetings, education, community events, or feature stories, I focus on reporting with accuracy, empathy, and context.

I believe journalism is about more than just facts. It’s about connecting with people and sharing their experiences in a way that informs and inspires. When I’m not reporting, I enjoy exploring photography as a way to add a visual dimension to the stories I tell.

Journalism, especially hyperlocal journalism, is vital because it provides people with the information they need to make informed decisions and empowers them to advocate on issues that affect their lives.

Get to know me deeper

I grew up in Grandview, Texas, in a family deeply rooted in education and politics. My mom was a teacher who eventually became an assistant principal at a high school, and my dad was my high school counselor. They met on a political chat forum back in the 1990s, and my mom moved from California to Texas to be with my dad.

I’m the youngest of four siblings. My dad holds a degree in journalism, which sparked my—and my sister’s—interest in the field. In high school, I participated in journalism events, marching and concert band, FCCLA, speech and debate, and more. Since Grandview is a small town, everyone was involved in a little bit of everything. I also developed a strong interest in politics, something I feel I was born with.

I attended Texas State University in San Marcos starting in the fall of 2022 and graduated in fall 2024. Shortly after, I began my career as a government reporter for Community Impact, covering San Marcos, Buda, and Kyle.

"It's a journalist's job to be a witness to history."
